If you love cozy mysteries with a magical twist, you’re in for a treat with Marriage Spells Murder by Bella Colby. I recently reviewed this charming first book in the Witchy Wedding Mystery series on my podcast Books & Tea with KD, and I couldn’t wait to share more here on the blog.
The story introduces us to Skylar Blackwood, a reluctant witch who’s been keeping her powers buried after a traumatic magical incident in her past. But when a groomzilla drops dead at a wedding she’s helped plan, the last thing she expects is to run smack dab into her hunky ex-husband. With a grumpy wolf familiar, a town full of secrets, and her long-dormant magic sparking back to life, Skye must solve the crime to help a good friend accused of murder and come to terms with her past.
Bella Colby does a beautiful job balancing humor, heart, and mystery. Skye’s emotional growth is just as compelling as the central whodunit. The theme of healing from magical trauma added unexpected depth, making Marriage Spells Murder by Bella Colby feel both fresh and emotionally satisfying.

- 🌙 A hesitant return to magic
- 🧩 A twisty mystery with more than one surprise
- 💍 A cursed wedding plot-line full of tension and heart
This book is perfect for fans of paranormal cozy mysteries who like a little heartache with their hexes. It also strikes a great balance…witchy without being too whimsical, and emotional without being heavy.
