Welcome to an Online Book Club for Readers Who Love Story
If you’ve been looking for an online book club for readers who care about atmosphere, character, and the emotional aftertaste a good story leaves behind, you’re in the right place.
I’m a novelist, painter, and lifelong reader, and this space grew out of a simple desire: to talk about books the way real readers do. Not just star ratings or tropes, but why a story lingered, what it stirred up, and how it changed the way we see things.
This site is home to my fiction, my artwork, and—most importantly—a growing community of readers who love mystery, suspense, romance, and the kinds of stories that blur genres instead of staying neatly in one box. I don’t gravitate toward horror or erotica, and I’m not especially interested in loud space operas. But if a book involves time travel, emotional realism, a good mystery/thriller, or a love story that feels earned? I’m all in.
The book club and newsletter are intentionally low-pressure. No frantic reading schedules. No performative “takes.” Just thoughtful discussions, reflections, and recommendations (sometimes tied to my own writing process, sometimes inspired by a painting or a place), and often sparked by a novel that deserves more conversation than it usually gets.
What You’ll Receive
When you sign up, you’ll receive:
-
Book club picks and discussion prompts
-
Behind-the-scenes notes on my novels and works-in-progress
-
Occasional essays about creativity, chronic illness, and the long relationship we have with stories
-
Early access to projects, art, excerpts, and reader-only updates
The book club focuses on one main title at a time, with optional companion reads for anyone who wants to go deeper. You can participate as much or as little as you like, reading along is always welcome.
If you love stories that unfold slowly, mysteries that respect the reader, romances that ache a little, and speculative elements like time travel used for emotional impact rather than spectacle, I think you’ll feel at home here.
You can join the newsletter and book club using the sign-up form below. I’m genuinely glad you found your way here, and I hope you’ll stay awhile.
Warmly,
K.D. Upton
